Dear Member

We want to introduce a NEW chart product and briefly tell you about it. Its called "MULTI MERGED SATELLITE DATA"

The new chart product will for the most part, will only be used on overwhelmingly cloudy days as an "alternative" to when the latest Individual satellite image is mostly cloud obscured The NEW Product is looks exactly like our usual satellite Chart data images you see everyday however, instead of being manufactured from one (1) latest individual satellite pass, it is a compilation of eight different satellites including (NOAA 20 NOAA 21, NOAA NPP, Metop B and Metop C ) over an extended period of either 12 or 24 hours.

The new chart product will display a significantly reduced amount of cloud cover because of the sheer multitude of different satellites being accessed for the data and the amount of time over which the data was collected. The temperature's displayed will be an AVERAGE of the temperature's over the 12 or 24 hour period the data was collected. Temperature breaks will still be relevant although may have shifted slightly.

In other words, Instead of a single "snapshot" of the latest satellite pass, It will be excellent overall display of ocean temperature and features over the last 12 or 24 hours with significantly less cloud cover. This is on all levels better then a completely cloud covered chart.

So an example of typical use would be as follows: We check and see that the latest satellite pass shows over 80% cloud cover. We then will look to see if any Merged Data is available to us and if so we will then determine if its useful. if so, we will further process it and display the data as one of our chart updates.

This new addition is not a cure for cloud cover but may overall significantly reduce the number of mostly cloudy shots and give you something other then a mostly cloud covered chart to work with. The raw data for us to manufacture charts with is very limited and only available to us once per day.

The Multi Merged Satellite data charts will be CLEARLY labeled (as Multi Merged sat Data or something similar) on each chart, so if uou seer that wording all over your chart, you will now know what you are looking at.
