Cool air over the last couple of days has caused temporary warm patches of water to cool down revealing the more permanent temperature breaks on the oceans surface to be more defined and clearly exposed.
As the very top layer of water heats up again from an un shielded summer sun, the permanent breaks will slowly appear to fade away as air temperatures rise.
It is for this very reason that we are always changing the color scale, assinging different color ranges to individual chart areas, and keeping the scale range as small as possible. Doing this takes alot more work however it maximizes the ability to see hidden breaks as much as possible.
